Morey's Piers releases statement, suspends operation of two rides after fatal accident at Ohio State Fair

After a tragic accident in which one person was killed and seven others injured at the Ohio State Fair on Wednesday (Updated article from CBS3), Morey's Piers released the following statement:

"Out of an abundance of caution, Morey's Piers closed two similar rides on the evening of July 26th referred to as 'it' and the 'Maelstrom.' We are working closely with the State and the manufacturer to understand the facts surrounding the incident and appreciate your patience in this matter."

Dutch manufacturer KMG, creator of the Fire Ball ride that was assembled on-site at the Ohio State Fair, released a statement ordering such rides to be temporarily shut down around the world.

According to KMG, there are 43 similar rides, including 11 in the United States.

Both "it" and Maelstrom are KMG products.
