Sam's Pizza opens one week from today - Who's in?

The annual opening of Sam's Pizza Palace on the Friday leading into President's Day Weekend has become such an event that some locals refer to it as the "the unofficial first day of summer."

It'll be a festive atmosphere at 26th & Boardwalk one week from today (Valentine's Day; no coincidence), when members of the community and daytrippers alike converge to savor those first slices of 2014.

We've heard from several readers who plan to travel up to 8 hours away for the occasion.

Here are Sam's official hours of operation for next weekend:

Friday, February 14  -  10:30 a.m. to 6/7 p.m.
Saturday, February 15  -  10:30 a.m. to 5/6 p.m.
Sunday, February 16  -  10:30 a.m. to 5/6 p.m.

We're getting there...

With the opening of Sam's for weekends / Valentine's Day / President's Day, we will also pass yet a few more milestones along the road to Summer 2014.

This is the time of year when seasonal businesses, slowly but surely, begin to open their doors, and the island comes to life.
