The Wildwoods Island Shuttle Service returns Memorial Day Weekend '23

PRESS RELEASE

THE WILDWOODS - The Wildwoods Island Shuttle Service returns for the 2023 summer season starting Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 26 and ending Sunday, September 17.

The shuttle will run weekends only from Friday, May 26 to Sunday, June 25, with service available on Friday and Saturday from 5 pm to 2 am, and Sunday from 5 pm to midnight.

Starting Monday, June 26, service will expand to a 7-day-a-week route through Sunday, September 3, with service available Sunday through Thursday from 5 pm to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 5 pm to 2 am.

From Friday, September 8 through Sunday, September 17, shuttles will again operate weekends only on Friday and Saturday from 5 pm to 2 am, and Sunday from 5 pm to midnight.

The service is made possible through a cooperative agreement with the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement & Development Authority (GWTIDA) and the three municipalities of the Wildwoods: the Borough of Wildwood Crest, the City of Wildwood and the City of North Wildwood, all sharing in the cost to bring this service to the Wildwoods as a convenient amenity for their visitors.

Now, visitors will be able to hop aboard the convenient Jitneys to be transported to the Wildwoods Boardwalk or bars and nightclubs in the North Wildwood Entertainment District, and everywhere in between.

"The Wildwoods Island Shuttle offers a hassle-free mode of transportation for exploring the Wildwoods. This visitor amenity ensures convenient access to all the attractions the Wildwoods have to offer," said Mayors Don Cabrera, Wildwood Crest; Pete Byron, City of Wildwood; and Patrick Rosenello, City of North Wildwood, in a joint statement.

The shuttles, provided by the AC Jitney Association, have the Wildwoods logo featured prominently on their sides, making it easy for visitors to identify them. The Jitneys contain 13 available seats on each shuttle, and rides are $3 one-way per person. Children 4 years of age and under ride free.

The shuttles will run the length of the island starting at Rochester and Atlantic Avenues in Diamond Beach, then run north on Ocean Avenue in Wildwood Crest and the City of Wildwood to 26th Street, and continue along Surf Avenue to the Olde New Jersey Entertainment District in North Wildwood.

The Jitneys will offer on-demand service where riders can flag the shuttle to board anywhere along the route, and the Jitney will stop to pick them up. Each Jitney is ADA compliant and equipped with motorized lifts for wheelchair accessibility.

Download the free Jitney Surfer App from Google Play or the Apple App Store to pre-pay for rides. Cash payments will also be accepted by shuttle drivers, with exact change preferred. The Jitney Surfer App allows riders to view a map of shuttle routes and real-time locations of each shuttle.
