Morey's Piers Debuts Faster, Smoother Great Nor'Easter Coaster Memorial Day Weekend

New VIP Tours Grant Visitors “Beyond the Boards” Access

Raging Waters Water Park Opens May 27

PRESS RELEASE

This Memorial Day weekend, Morey’s Piers & Beachfront Water Parks, located on the boardwalk of the Wildwoods, NJ, will unleash the newly refurbished Great Nor’Easter roller coaster. Also kicking off the summer fun, Raging Waters Water Park opens for the season with a splash on Saturday, May 27.

During the winter the beloved Great Nor’Easter located on Surfside Pier underwent a five-million dollar re-tracking project. The upgraded coaster now boasts a 95-foot drop, a sleek ocean-themed paint job and 2,170 feet of new and improved track that will deliver a smoother and faster ride for adrenaline-seeking guests.

New this summer, Morey’s Piers will offer weekly VIP tours giving guests an insider glimpse at what happens behind the fun and games of the boardwalk. Starting on May 31, each tour, led by a member of the Morey family, will feature a variety of locations “beyond the boards.”

From a visit with in-house welders, carpenters and painters, to a water park chemistry and filtration lesson, the behind the scenes tour showcases the scope and complexity of operating an amusement park. Each tour will conclude with a Curley’s Fries buffet bar at Joe’s Fish Co.

Participants will also receive of copy of Morey’s A Wild Ride book and a Curley Fry bobblehead.

Scheduled tours start at 11:00 am and last for approximately 75 minutes; the cost is $35 per person. For the full schedule and to book, visit: www.moreyspiers.com/viptours.

Summer at the Jersey Shore heats up Memorial Day weekend with the opening of Raging Waters Water Park on Saturday, May 27. Guests can slip and slide on exhilarating water rides such as the River Adventure, Shotgun Falls, the 175,000-gallon interactive activity pool and two interactive kiddie play areas.

All three of Morey’s amusement piers – Mariner’s, Surfside, and Adventure – will be open Friday through Monday, May 26 - 29, giving guests a glimpse of what’s in store at the Wildwood Boardwalk this season; including:

  • New games:  Mariner’s Pier debuts Pixel Punch, a vertical water game where players compete against each other by spraying various targets to advance game characters up the track to win the race.
  • The Morey Store:  The expanded store now offers more space to accommodate shoppers. All merchandise is boardwalk inspired and specific to Morey’s Piers. Apparel includes a roller coaster challenge t-shirt, clothing with sketches of rides, and products with the new Morey’s Piers logo. Hot coffee and hot chocolate will also be available for purchase.

A Memorial Day favorite, the fourth annual Wildwood MURPH Challenge returns on Monday, May 29 from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Morey’s Piers partners with CrossFit Parallax to host the event at Juniper Avenue and the Boardwalk. This special group workout will be held all over the country in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy who lost his life in Afghanistan in 2005.

The workout consists of a one mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups and 300 squats, followed by a second one mile run with magnificent beach and boardwalk views. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

Advanced ticket purchase and sign-up is required.
