Wildwood to Offer Bigger, Better Beach for Pups

PRESS RELEASE

This city’s iconic dog beach is getting a new leash on life as it moves from its present site at Poplar Avenue and the beach to brand new digs that will mean more open space for Fido to romp in the sand.

Officially opened in June 2014, Wildwood’s favorite place for pooches has outgrown its home. It was listed as the second best dog beach in the nation by USA Today in 2016.

“The response to our dog beach has been amazing,” said Commissioner Pete Byron.  “It’s become one of the most popular places on the East Coast for people to come with their dogs to enjoy a day at the beach.”

The current dog beach offered a pup’s paradise including a fenced in area to run, fresh water and clean up bags.  Couple those things with an unparalleled view of the ocean and soft, white sand. Plans for the new dog beach mean pups will now be saying “Bow-WOW” as they enjoy a larger area to run, more playthings, Wildwood’s soft, white sand and the world-famous towering red fire hydrant – all in a more visible location. The grand opening of the new, expanded dog beach will be announced shortly.

“We are expanding our dog beach in order to provide an even bigger and better experience for our furry friends and their people.” said Byron.  “By expanding it at a new location, we remain committed to making our city the best beach in the nation for the entire family – even the four legged members.”
