"Donut Bar" coming to New Jersey Ave?

Well, this is intriguing...

While we're always on the lookout for signs of new businesses coming to the Wildwoods, such news is usually scant until after New Year's.

This is why we were surprised to see a sign on a long-shuttered property proclaiming something new for 2017, while cruising around town this week.

The site is the former home of the Sportsmen's Tavern, at 3711 New Jersey Avenue.

We haven't seen activity at this location in years, but here it is - a hand-painted sign for the "Wildwood Donut Bar," supposedly coming next year.

What, exactly, a "donut bar" is, we're not certain; but we sure are intrigued.

It's particularly promising to see new business prospects appear on the west side of the island. So, fingers crossed on this one.
