Jersey Girl Kitchen + Bar unveils renovations and new menu

Executive Chef George Mallous blends Jersey Shore and Greek Isle Classics

PRESS RELEASE

THE WILDWOODS - Jersey Girl Kitchen and Bar, adjacent to the Blue Palms Hotel in the heart of Wildwood, NJ, has a refreshed appearance and menu this summer. The restaurant has undergone a year-long remodeling and renovation project, adding to the aesthetics of both the interior and exterior of the building.

"We have long wanted to establish a high-quality meotel with a trendy restaurant in the middle of town," said Jack Morey, 2nd Generation Partner of Morey's Piers and Resorts. "This refresh is a phase one of a three-phase plan."

Phase two intends to include a three-season room connecting the hotel to the restaurant, and phase three will add additional rooms and an expanded pool.

The restaurant has a fun, contemporary interior featuring black and white photographs depicting strong, fearless women of New Jersey. The exterior features an expanded outdoor dining space surrounded by lush greenery and flowers. The covered patio provides shade from the summer heat and allows patrons to dine outside even during a summer rain shower.

The song lyric "Sha-La-La" is painted on the exterior of the building by local artist Mike DeMusz of Cape May, NJ. The lyric is from the song "Jersey Girl," originally written by Tom Waits in 1980, about his future wife living in New Jersey. The song later became famous when performed by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

The large neon sign is the craftsmanship of ABS Sign Co. of Wildwood, NJ. According to Jack Morey, ABS created the sign out of the remnants of three previous signs, which was important to the spirit of the renovation and the restaurant's mood. Like the sign, Architect Richard Stokes wanted to peel back the previous modern finish of the restaurant and return as much of hte building as possible to its gritty beginning; hence the original concrete floor and ceiling are now exposed.

As the renovations ensued, Executive Chef George Mallous and his brother Argie were busy developing a new menu. "We use the Greek phrase 'Meraki' - that translates - to do something with soul, creativity or love; to put something of yourself into your work," says Chef Mallous. "Our dinner menu features creative dishes with a blend of Jersey Shore and Greek Isle fresh classics." Specialties include appetizers, summertime kabobs, Jersey Shore entrees, specials, happy hour deals, drinks and more.

Jersey Girl Kitchen signature dishes include the Shrimp & Scallop Saganaki with garlic white wine, tomatoes, spinich, pepperoncini, feta cheese, and the Lamb Chops, marinated and fire-grilled with smashed potatoes, a red wine demi-glaze, asparagus, greens and tzatziki.

A full bar menu is available and features signature crafted cocktails, including the Zipper (Stoli peach, strawberry puree, fresh lime, basil and prosecco); and the Wipeout (Malibu coconut rum, mango juice, pineapple juice, orange juice, watermelon juice and fresh fruit). In addition, South Jersey craft beer enthusiasts and vacationers can look forward to tasting the exclusive Parkway to Paradise craft beer, the newest release from Tonewood Brewery. Parkway to Paradise is a dry-hopped Pilsner that pairs well with many food offerings, including seafood, burgers, steaks and more.

Breakfast is served from 9 am - 1 pm, and specialties include breakfast sandwiches, eggs and omelets, batter dips and morning libations. New menu items include Mango Tu Tu Tango French Toast with mango and berries, toasted almonds, drizzled with honey, topped with Greek yogurt; and the Avocado Toast with fresh avocado and Greek yogurt spread on toasted multi-grain break topped with a crispy fried eff and mini-Greek salad and arugula.

Jersey Girl Kitchen and Bar serves breakfast and dinner six days a week - the restaurant is currently closed on Tuesdays. Live entertainment takes place Thursday through Sunday evenings.
