Wildwood to offer beach parking at Baker Avenue this summer

Starting Memorial Day Weekend, four-wheel drive vehicles will be able to park on the sand at Baker Avenue in Wildwood.

(Update: Parking will run on weekends only until the third week of June; the lot will then be open seven days a week for the remainder of summer.)

The designated area is just off the Boardwalk, one block north of the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Parking will cost $10 per day, with the price rising to $20 for special events.

Last year, Wildwood commissioners unanimously approved an ordinance allowing beach parking. The plan is able to move ahead now that an access ramp that travels under the Boardwalk at Baker Avenue has been completed.

City officials estimate that the new lot will bring in six figures of surplus revenue.
