Wildwoods Sign to glow red throughout March for Red Cross Month

The iconic Wildwoods Sign at Boardwalk and Rio Grande Avenue will be illuminated in red throughout March to honor American Red Cross Month.

West Wildwood's welcome sign will also glow red this month, along with other New Jersey locations and landmarks, including Harrah's and Caesars Atlantic City, the Battleship New Jersey in Camden the Prudential Center Marquee in Newark, and the New Jersey State House on March 26.

According to an official release, the American Red Cross is asking people across New Jersey "to become a hero by giving blood, becoming a volunteer or making a donation to #help1family on Giving Day - March 28."

"The Red Cross is powered by our volunteer heroes who give of their time, talents and compassion to fulfill our vital humanitarian mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering," said Susan Rounds, interim CEO, American Red Cross New Jersey Region.

"They are people from your neighborhood who donate blood, who teach First Aid and CPR classes, who support those in need at what may be the worst time in their lives. We celebrate them during Red Cross Month and ask you to consider joining us and making a difference."

March has been recognized as Red Cross Month for the past 75 years. Beginning with President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1943, every U.S. President has designated March as Red Cross Month to recognize how the American Red Cross helps people across the country and around the world.
