Seawall extension resuming after storms

The southern extension of the seawall in North Wildwood is set to resume after delays caused by two recent storms.

The back-to-back nor'easters in early March caused considerable erosion to the city's beaches, washing away the stretch from 3rd to 5th Avenue.

Were it not for the new bulkhead, JFK Boulevard and nearby condos could have incurred "catastrophic" damage, according to Mayor Patrick Rosenello.

The bulkhead, between Third & Sixth Avenues is part of the ongoing $10 million seawall extension, a partnership between the city and state. As the project progresses, work may be extended to 7th Avenue to further fortify the line of defense against future storms.
