Looking Ahead: Memorial Day Weekend 2018 events

It feels as if we've been counting down the weeks until Memorial Day 2018 for an eternity, but the start of the new season really is rapidly approaching!

In fact, the start of the big holiday weekend, which marks the unofficial beginning of Summer, is exactly two months from today. Tomorrow, we will be 9 weeks out (single digits, folks!) from Memorial Day itself.

Since it's never too early to plan, here's a look at events taking place from Thursday, May 25 to Monday, May 28...

The festival begins at noon on Friday, May 25 with the Unlocking of the Ocean media event outside of the Wildwoods Convention Center (see below). Festivities include the opening of the kite sales tent, a Friday night social via the local kite club and the 9 pm illuminated kite fly. Saturday, May 26 will feature silent and loud auctions, and Saturday and Sunday will include the flying of large inflatable kites, sport kite demos, team flying and family games. The World Indoor Kite Competition will be held inside the Wildwoods Convention Center on Monday, May 28. All events are FREE to spectators.
