The two-block stretch of beach in North Wildwood closed for emergency pair over the past two days WILL reopen tomorrow (Friday) morning, August 4.
The city released the following statement this afternoon:
Usually routine for our Fall, Winter and Spring seasons, the rarity of this past weekend's storm event caused the north end of North Wildwood's beach to experience erosion extending from 2nd - 5th Avenues. Immediately following the documentation of erosion, city officials took corrective action in remedying the issue in a sufficient and timely manner. By mobilizing an emergency contractor, the City of North Wildwood was able to stabilize the dune and beachfront from 2nd - 5th Avenues within 48 hours.
The City of North Wildwood would like to personally thank and comment North Wildwood Beach Patrol, North Wildwood Police Department, our City Engineer, and Perna Finnigan for their efforts and assistance with this emergency repair.
Effective tomorrow, the beach from 2nd - 5th Avenues is open. Visitors are reminded to always swim near a lifeguard, on guarded beaches, when lifeguards are on duty.
