Rescheduled Dutch Hoffman Lifeguard Championships set for this evening; follow along on Twitter!

The 48th Annual Dutch Hoffman Memorial Lifeguard Championships will take place at Lincoln Avenue Beach this evening, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

If you can't make it in person, the Wildwood Beach Patrol will be providing updates via Twitter at @WildwoodBP.

The event was originally set for this past Friday, but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

The annual lifeguard competition honors the memory of Captain Frank "Dutch" Hoffman. It is hosted by the Wildwood Beach Patrol and features 15 South Jersey beach patrols in a variety of exercises.

Can the WBP or one of the other local patrols bring the championship home? The Margate Beach Patrol has had a stranglehold on the event in recent years, winners of six straight Hoffman titles.
