Pro Footvolley Tour Teams Announced, The Hottest Sport of the Summer Comes to Wildwood in July

U.S. National Team Featured in International Play
at Garfield Avenue Beach in Wildwood

PRESS RELEASE

The US National Team comes to Wildwood Beach this summer from July 21-23 as part of the Pro Footvolley Tour, presented by Boardwalk Entertainment for some intense international competition.

Footvolley is an amazing combination of soccer touches played on a beach volleyball court.

Essentially it is no-hands volleyball; but incredibly entertaining!

The teams for the competition are: Team USA, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay.

The US National Team will feature two teams with Benny Astorga, Pauly ‘the Black Hawk’ Ricardo, Sergio ‘Captain’ Menezes, and Neil Tucker. Team USA stars Sergio Menezes on the men’s side and Melony Poviones on the women’s side both featured at RIO 2016 as footvolley was a demonstration sport at the Olympics.

Other Tour stars include Adriano ‘the Monster’ Boente and Fernando ‘Model’ Plentz  for Brazil; and Nelson 'Paraguayan Assassin' Santa Cruz for Paraguay. Also, be on the look-out for the women’s match which is always a crowd pleaser.

The weekend will consist of thrilling matches, authentic Brazilian food, drink and entertainment, as well as fun for the whole family. There is no cost to enter the event, but free tickets must be claimed online and provided at the door for entry. The event will also be available to view online around the world through streaming, recorded by local Ventnor, NJ company Little Rock Films & Studio.

This will be the second time Pro Footvolley Tour has come to the Jersey Shore. In 2011, the Paraguayan Assassin and AJ Mendonca went the distance in Seaside Heights; but came up short and were runners up. The winners of the event were Karl Sanders and Luke Roque.

The Tour started the 2017 campaign in South Florida at Hollywood Beach (FL), in late February, with Adriano ‘the Monster’ Boente winning that event.  His partner Billy Oliveira (USA) will not participate in the Wildwood event due to a knee injury that has sidelined him all summer.  The Tour moves on to Miami Beach after Wildwood, New Jersey.

The event will host four matches on July 21st from 4 PM-8 PM, eight matches on July 22nd from 3 PM-8 PM and four matches, including the championship match, from 4 PM-8 PM on July 23rd. A kick off performance will be hosted at the Wildwoods sign, and will be filmed for the broadcast recording of the event.

In addition to the matches, attractions featured include food trucks with various cuisine, a beer garden including service of beer, wine and Caipirinha (the popular Brazilian drink), a vendor row featuring retail and snack businesses, and the KidZone, benefitting the CompleteCare Family Health Foundation with a bounce house, R/C car racing, face painting and more.

Live music throughout the day will be featured from local bands and performances between each match will consist of Brazilian culture.

In the evening of July 22nd from 8 PM-10 PM, a celebration of Brazil will take place called Brazil at the Beach. The event will feature music, dancers, performances, game merchandise and more.

The event will be available to watch online at www.wildwoodfootvolley.com, as well as through additional streaming services, and parts of the event through the day will be featured on Facebook Live.

More details on the broadcast will be available soon.
