WILD Weekend: Wild Half Race Series, more businesses open, new BBQ place on Pacific

Ready or not (though, we suspect you're ready), we're barreling into the last weekend of April!

Monday will not only be May 1, it will mark exactly four weeks until Memorial Day 2017. And if you want to get technical, the start of the big holiday weekend will be a mere 25 days from that point.

Yes, it's all coming, and it's all coming FAST. But we have the Wild Half Race Series and some other happenings to put an exclamation on the month.

So, let's get to it...

Run Wild, you crazy kids!

Morey's Piers is going all out, as its Wild Half Race Series continues to get bigger and better. Once again this year, the event will be held over two days, with a festival-like atmosphere along the Boardwalk and over at Fox Park (across from the finish line at the Wildwoods Convention Center).

Saturday will feature the Kids 1k and a 5k race, while the 8k and 13.1 Mile Wild Half Marathon will take place on Sunday.

Meawhile, Fox Park will be jammin' with live entertainment and food, and there are also some really cool additional activities like Beach Yoga in front of the Giant Wheel from 4 - 5 p.m. on Saturday.

All the info you could want and more is available at www.WildHalf.com, but you can also call 609-522-3900 if you have any questions.

Mariner's Pier Hours

Speaking of the Giant Wheel, the amusements will be running at Mariner's Pier (Boardwalk & Schellenger Avenue) on Saturday from 12 p.m. - 10 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For those who have asked, Surfside Pier opens on May 13 (two weekends away), followed by Adventure Pier on May 19.

The full season schedule is always up at www.moreyspiers.com.

Welcome Back!

A handful of favorites are reopening for the season this weekend, including Boathouse Restaurant and Piro's Village Restaurant on Friday, and two great breakfast spots - Samuel's Pancake House and Sun'z Up Cafe on Saturday.

Say "hello" again, and be sure to visit our weekly updated lists of Opening Dates and currently OPEN businesses.

Southern Style BBQ comes to PacAve

Earlier this week, we learned that JB Jr.'s Southern BBQ is set to debut at 3109 Pacific Avenue.

In what is shaping up to be a banner season for new businesses in the Wildwoods, the good news keeps on rolling in.

Best of luck to owner John Battle on this new venture!

He'll be open for the first time on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and then Sunday through Thursday with as-yet unconfirmed hours.
