Public invited to attend meeting on future of Maxwell Field, March 21st

PRESS RELEASE

Members of the public are invited to attend a March 21 meeting where the future of Maxwell Field’s playing surfaces will be discussed as part of a grant application by the City of Wildwood to the Cape May County Open Space program.

The proposed plan calls for the resurfacing of the field’s playing areas with a synthetic surface that will allow each area to be used for multiple events such as baseball, softball, youth and high school soccer, band tournaments, flag football, youth and high school football, track, tournaments, Ultimate Frisbee, rugby, along with field rentals and miscellaneous uses.

“Our recreation programs are second to none,” said Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano.  “We want to continue that level of excellence by enhancing and increasing Maxwell Field’s playing capabilities.”

According to Todd Noon, a Senior Associate with Triad Associates, the firm engaged by the city to write the application, the synthetic turf will allow each of the playing areas in Maxwell Field to be multi-purpose by allowing for different field overlays to be applied to a specific area thereby enabling each field to be used year ‘round for different sports.

“We encourage everyone to come out and learn about the project and offer their insights,” Noon said.

The meeting will take place Tue., March 21 at 6 p.m. at Wildwood City Hall, Second Floor Meeting Room, 4400 New Jersey Avenue.

The public is invited to attend.
