County Zoo plans for "aerial adventure course" include zip lines

A big future attraction is being planned at the Cape May County Zoo, roughly 15 minutes north of the Wildwoods in Cape May Court House.

County freeholders have approved a resolution to seek bids for what is being described as an "aerial adventure course" that would be built in the park within the 200-acre grounds.

The course would make full use of the zoo's natural elements, envisioned to include ladders, balance beams, and zip lines, which would carry users from stations built on one tree to another.

Zip lines have become a very popular attraction in zoos and other parks around the country.

(Last year, there was some talk of zip lines coming to the Wildwood beach. It will be interesting to see if talk surfaces as the 2015 summer season approaches.)

The county's freeholders and zoo officials are hopeful that approval can be finalized by May so that construction can begin by fall.

This would line things up for a Spring 2016 grand opening.
