Wildwood Police clarify Boardwalk bicycle rules; enforcement to begin Tuesday, June 15th

PRESS RELEASE

Due to concern pertaining to the number of bicycles on the Boardwalk lately, the Wildwood Police Department is providing the following update:

A recent ordinance that made changes to the City of Wildwood's "General Beach and Boardwalk Regulations" also changed the date in which bicycles are prohibited from operating on the Boardwalk. As per the ordinance, bicycles, skateboards, scooters and the like are prohibited from operating on the Boardwalk from June 15 - September 14, between the hours of 1 pm and 5 am daily.

Therefore, the Wildwood Police Department will begin enforcing the ordinance on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Those operating bicycles during prohibited hours will be asked to leave the Boardwalk at the nearest exit. Those who ignore this request or who are repeat violators will be issued a summons.

Motorized vehicles, including motorized scooters, motorized bicycles and hoverboards, are not permitted on the Boardwalk at any time.

This shall not include wheelchairs, mobility aids and other power-driven mobility devices as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

As a reminder, bicycles are also prohibited from being attached/locked to railings on the Boardwalk. Securing bicycles under the Boardwalk is permitted.
