Shore Plaza Beach Resort opens today!

Six-and-a-half years after a massive blaze claimed the landmark Shore Plaza Motel at 26th & Boardwalk, the new Shore Plaza Beach Resort is now in business at the same location.

The four story structure, nestled between 26th and Juniper Avenues, officially opened its doors today.

"On December 9, 2005 our family was devastated by a fire that swept through both the Shore Plaza and Sam's Pizza," read a statement on the resort's official Facebook page. "The process of rebuilding has been long, tedious and stressful. It is with great pride and relief that we reopen our to doors to you today."

Sam's Pizza Palace, which was also destroyed in the fire, was quickly rebuilt and opened in a new building in time for Memorial Day Weekend 2006.

A little more than a half-decade later, the bustling junction at 26th & Boardwalk is "complete" once again...

  1. Very sad....my family will only be able to make a day trip to Wildwood this summer. This hurts my heart. I was raised every summer in Wildwood and that's where we are raising our children. They love going to the Wildwoods. Hope we take a vacation in the Wildwoods next summer. We will miss you.....
