3000 Boardwalk Gets A Makeover

The structure that encompasses the entire 3000 block on the Boardwalk, between Glenwood and Maple Aves., is getting an external facelift this offseason.

Workers are applying fresh and much-needed coats of paint to the building that has for years been considered the biggest eyesore on the Boardwalk. The bright yellow scheme is reminiscent of the Montego Bay Resort, 12 blocks up on the North Wildwood portion of the 'Walk.

Apartment units on the second and third floors have not been occupied in years, though businesses have continued to operate out of Boardwalk-level stores (save for a brief period earlier this decade when the building was closed for asbestos cleaning).

Hot Spot V (of the "PITZA" sign fame) anchors the south end of the structure and is likely the longest-continually operated business on the block. There is also a Subway sandwich shop, one of the few chain franchises on the Boardwalk, along with several game stands and souvenir outlets.
