PRESS RELEASE
WILDWOOD, NJ - Just in time for Mother's Day Weekend, the Boardwalk Special Improvement District has announced that Sightseer Tram Car rides, and the iconic "Watch the Tram Car, Please!" announcement will return to the Wildwoods Boardwalk on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
2026 marks the 78th season of the Sightseer Tram Cars carrying happy families up and down the 38 blocks of fun shops, amusement piers, water parks, bars and restaurants that make up the 2-mile-long Wildwoods Boardwalk.
They have certainly traveled through a lot of history since they debuted in 1939 when Franklin D. Roosevelt opened the World's Fair in Flushing Meadow, NY. The Sightseer Tram Cars were brought to the Wildwoods Boardwalk 10 years later, in 1949, and, as they say, the rest is history!
Beginning on May 9, the Sightseer Tram Cars will operate on Saturdays and Sundays through May 17, starting at noon. Tram Car operation will follow the Morey's Piers schedule, which can be found online.
The Tram Cars will offer Memorial Day Weekend service from Friday, May 22 through Sunday, May 25, starting at noon and closing shortly after Morey's Piers close. Beginning on Thursday, May 28, the Tram Cars will run 7 days a week through Labor Day Weekend, from noon until Morey's Piers close.
The single one-way fare to ride the Sightseer Tram Car is $5. Discount ticket books are sold on the Boardwalk during the season at the Tram Car Ticket Office (Cresse Avenue) and the Tram Car Ticket Kiosk (16th Avenue).
The Sightseer Tram Car is the best way to travel the 2-mile Wildwoods Boardwalk and experience everything it has to offer!
When you're in the Wildwoods, ride and "Watch the Tram Car, Please!"
