Another suspicious Wildwood fire

Certainly not the kind of news anyone looks forward to passing along...

The latest in a disturbing trend of fires in Wildwood this winter was called in at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Friday morning, at an apartment complex on the West 200 block of Roberts Ave. The investigation into the cause is ongoing, but police department officials have determined the start of the blaze to be of a “suspicious” nature.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. For more information, including an effort by a local community director to seek clothing for the family displaced by the fire, see this article from the Cape May County Herald.

This is the latest in a string of suspicious fires in Wildwood over the past few months. Charges have already been made in connection with fires that severely damaged a pair of local landmarks, the Skylark Motel and Doris Vernon Hotel, prior to this.
