The weekend sale of all equipment and fixtures at the now-former Boardwalk Mall Arcade has been extended to Monday, October, 16.
The doors on the Ocean Avenue side of the building (at Garfield Avenue) will be open at 8:30 am and prospective buyers are urged to arrive by noon, as "everything must go" by the afternoon.
We have been informed that a decent amount of inventory remains, with some items marked as free. Buyers, of course, are fully responsible for the transportation of any purchased items.
The Boardwalk Mall was recently sold to the owners of Capt'n Jack's Island Grill, who have begun to map out future plans for the property. Those plans do not include the longtime use of the ground floor as an arcade, as "something new" is planned for that space next season.
"In assessing what we have and our vision for bringing new and exciting concepts to the Boardwalk, we have identified several outdated aspects or other areas of the mall that simply need to be rethought," said new co-owner Sean Dougherty of Jersey Cape Partners. "Chief among them is the arcade area and the entire street-level floor, which will likely be the first area addressed."
Dougherty did not go into detail on what the future holds for this space, reiterating that plans are still "evolving" and several options are being considered.
"It will be a worthwhile change, I can promise that," he said. "Something that will help bring new life into a tired area, just as Capt'n Jack's did when we transformed the front and upper level of the mall [back in 2020]."
