WILDWOOD CREST - The Borough of Wildwood Crest has accepted a $400,000 grant for infrastructure improvements from the County of Cape May through its American Rescue Plan Act Infrastructure Grant program.
The borough was formally presented the award by Len Desideiro, Commissioner Director of the Cape May County Board of Commissioners, at a regular meeting of the Wildwood Crest Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, May 10.
Wildwood Crest submitted an application for the grant earlier this year.
Funds from the grant will help subsidize the reconstruction of Syracuse Avenue, which is currently in the construction phase. The project includes the replacement of sanitary sewer laterals, mains, services and manholes, as well as milling and paving of the roadway, for Syracuse Avenue from the eastern end of the road at the beach entrance west to New Jersey Avenue.
Work on the project is due to be completed by December 2023.
The Cape May County American Rescue Plan Act Infrastructure Grant program supports improvements to drinking water, sanitary sewer infrastructure and storm water infrastucture investments up to $400,000 per municipality.
