The Wildwoods announce the Grand Champion of the 24th Annual New Jersey Barbeque Championship

THE WILDWOODS - The Wildwoods concluded the 24th Annual New Jersey State Barbeque Championship and Anglesea Blues Festival on July 10 with a new 2022 Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion.

Winning the top overall score for Grand Champion was Chunky BBQ from Hershey, PA and winning the second overall score for Reserve Grand Champion was Uncle Pig's Barbeque Pit from Gibbstown, NJ. 

As Grand Champion, Chunky BBQ is eligible to compete in the invitation-only world championship, the American Royale, held annually in Kansas City, Missouri. The official judging was conducted by the prestigious Kansas City Barbeque Society.

The three-day festival took place July 8-10 at 2nd & Olde New Jersey Avenues in the North Wildwood Entertainment District and featured barbeque teams from around the country showing off their grill skills in a quest for the best BBQ. There were over 60 teams competing for glory and 1st through 5th place awards in pork, ribs, chicken and brisket.

As spectators enjoyed delicious BBQ, they also enjoyed smoking hot blues music. The Anglesea Blues Festival occurred in conjunction with the New Jersey State Barbeque Championship, and featured both national and regional blues musicians. Top blues acts were featured on the FREE outdoor main stage, as well as in neighboring clubs and pubs throughout North Wildwood's Entertainment District.

The 24th Annual New Jersey State Barbeque Championship and Anglesea Blues Festival was a celebration of great good, great music and family fun!
