Discs will fly as world's largest Beach Ultimate Tournament returns to the Wildwoods' beaches - July 30 & 31

PRESS RELEASE

THE WILDWOODS - The annual Beach Ultimate Tournament, the largest co-ed beach Frisbee tournament in the world, celebrates 30 years in the Wildwoods on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31.

The Wildwood Beach Ultimate Tournament, held every July in the Wildwoods, started in 1992 and draws over 400 teams from the United States and around the globe.

Beach Ultimate, originally known as Ultimate Frisbee, is a non-contact team sport played with a flying disc. It mixes the best features of sports such as soccer, basketball, American football and netball into a simple yet fascinating and demanding game. Points are scored by passing the disc to a teammate in the opposing end zone. Other basic rules are that players must not take steps while holding the disc, and interceptions, incomplete passes and passes out of bounds are turnovers.

Teams participate in this action-packed tournament consisting of 4-on-4 team competitions for players of all levels ages 18 years and older. A normal game is played until one team achieves 15 scores. A score is similar to a touchdown because to score, someone must catch the Frisbee in the end zone. All Beach Ultimate players demonstrate strength, agility and stamina in order to play such a physical game while sinking into a soft, sandy surface.

Competitions will be held from 9:30 am - 5 pm on Saturday and from 10 am - 5 pm on Sunday. Over 100 fields will stretch along the beach from Surfside Pier at 26th Street to the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Admission is FREE to spectators.

The Wildwood Beach Ultimate Tournament is sponsored by the American Beach Ultimate Association (ABUA). The ABUA is dedicated to the continued growth of the sport of Beach Ultimate by strengthening competition in the local, national and global Beach Ultimate community.
