WILDWOOD - Longtime establishment Kee Liquors at Andrews & New Jersey Avenues has reopened under new ownership as Revolution Liquors.
The store was purchased in the Fall of 2021 and looks forward to hosting a grand opening this May. The store is open daily, offering all the classics alongside new and fun products. Online ordering for pickup and on-island delivery is coming soon.
So, who's behind Revolution Liquors and how did it get that name?
U.S. Disabled Veteran Jim Schickling decided to bring his ideas for a liquor store to life and has big plans for the location. The anchor in the logo is a nod to Schickling's military career as a U.S. Navy diver, and his German Shepherd (coincidentally named Diver) can be found many times on-site too.
"Many people have told me Kee Liquors was their first stop into town, or their go-to liquor store after work, and that's something I want to respect while bringing new life into this business," said Schickling.
Revolution Liquors plans to focus on the best items for the island, like newly released, ready-to-drink Stateside, Crown Royal, High Noon cans, local brews from Cape May Brewery and classic beers and liquors from all the top brands. Joining other businesses in the area, the store will soon offer island-wide delivery, which is very easy through the website's online ordering system.
In addition to offering top quality products, Schickling will focus on heavy promotions for the island, including military, veteran and first responder discounts of 10 percent on wine and 5 percent on beer.
Specialty days throughout the year will focus on groups like teachers, offering a discount at the end of the school year, and event goers, like the multiple beach events or the many conventions held in town each year. Locals will be able to receive an islanders discount in the off-season, too. By cross promoting with specific event weekends and groups of people, Revolution Liquors provides a benefit to shopping local.
"Every business owner on the island wants the Wildwoods to succeed. The way we can help locals and vacationers alike is to offer incentives to keep shoppers on the island," said Schickling.
With delivery, Revolution Liquors closes the gap on high-demand and limited availability of liquor stores that deliver. Partnerships will be offered to local hotels and restaurants to benefit both businesses with summer traffic.
"What's better than showing up at your favorite Wildwood restaurant and having your favorite wine already on the table?" asked Schickling. "I am extremely determined to make Revolution Liquors a year round, go-to, full service business."
