As Spring 2022 nears, we’re continuing to see signs that point to a potentially strong summer season ahead, including an influx of new businesses to the island.
Thus far, however, we haven’t seen much movement on the Boardwalk, where the main story this offseason has been the renovation of the three block stretch between Maple and Oak Avenues.
This week, we learned that Clusters Handcrafted Popcorn will debut this May at 3314 Boardwalk, near the southern end of the area under construction. The location was previously occupied by Sun n Sand Jewelry & Clothing.
Clusters was founded in New Hope, PA in 2011. Presently, the corporate store location is at Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, PA. The company has since expanded to include several franchise locations in Southeastern PA and NJ. The Wildwood shop will be the second for franchisee owners Daniel and Sabrina Legiec, who also own a New Hope location.
The Legiecs tell Wildwood 365 they are longtime visitors to the island who have enthusiastically continued the tradition with their children, and look forward to helping other families make new vacation memories.
Clusters features an extensive variety of gourmet handcrafted popcorn, divided into categories of “Sweet” and “Savory.” With names like Cookie Explosion, Pumpkin Crisp, Just Like A Pickle Loaded Baked Potato and Toasted Coconut (the top seller in New Hope), the menu promises to be a unique addition to the Boardwalk’s ever-expanding food scene.
Traditional flavors like caramel corn and white cheddar will help fill the void created when longtime favorite Johnson’s Popcorn departed the Boardwalk after the 2020 season.
Clusters’ popcorn will be sold in various sizes, including single-flavor bags - small (“for you”), medium (“for two”) and large (“for a few”). Larger tubs and tins can include up to three flavors.
