Anglesea Irish Society and Cape May County AOH Division 1 announce St. Patrick's Day Observation Celebration

PRESS RELEASE

NORTH WILDWOOD - The Anglesea Irish Society (AIS) and the Cape May County Division 1 of the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) announced today that they will be sponsoring a St. Patrick's Day Observance Mass on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Church of Notre Dame De La Mar Parish in Wildwood, NJ.

The Catholic Observance Mass of the Feast of St. Patrick will include members of the numerous Irish Organizations as well as appropriately themed music and liturgical readings specially prepared for the Feast of St. Patrick. The celebration will include an entrance procession led by the Cape Atlantic Irish Pipe and Drum Brigade.

"After discussions with the City of North Wildwood, our members and the larger community, we felt that this year it was more important than ever to hold an event that reflects the true meaning of St. Patrick's Day," said Joe Rullo, President of the AIS.

"We are thrilled to be able to take this opportunity to shine a spotlight on the good work of St. Patrick and remind everyone why he is the patron saint of Ireland and such an important figure in the Irish-American community," added AOH President Michael Maguire.

St. Ann Church of Notre Dame De La Mar Parish has the largest seating capacity of any Catholic Church in New Jersey with seating for over 2,000 people. Under the current COVID restrictions, over 1,000 socially distanced seats will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

"I am proud of both of these organizations for their diligence and dedication to their Irish-Catholic heritage," said North Wildwood Mayor Patrick Rosenello. "We look forward to the time when we can return to our pre-COVID celebration that will include a parade, along with this new tradition of a Mass, but this year I believe that focusing this event on the true meaning of St. Patrick's Day is the proper thing to do."

AIS and AOH extend an invitation to all Irish Organizations as well as all brother and sister AOH and LAOH organizations to attend and participate in the observance. The public is invited to attend the Mass on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Mass will start at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Church of Notre Dame De La Mar Parish at Magnolia and Atlantic Avenues in Wildwood, NJ.
