Park being transformed into the SOLCOW - Socratic Outdoor Learning Center of Wildwood

Last week, a number of decorative beach balls were delivered to one of Wildwood’s recently-refurbished small parks, prompting much speculation.

Today, we learned that the site, on the west side of the island near the North Wildwood border, is being transformed into the SOLCOW - Socratic Outdoor Learning Center Of Wildwood.

That’s Socratic as in Socrates - yes, that Socrates!

Now, exactly what this means and what this will be remains a mystery.

According to A.B.S. Sign Co. owner Randy Hentges, the project is being spearheaded by Jack Morey.

In a Facebook post, Hentges revealed two custom sign creations that A.B.S. donated and installed earlier today.

One features the SOLCOW letters, with sun, moon and cow motifs; the other, a depiction of the Ancient Greek philosopher himself.

“These are custom Hi-def plasma cut letters out of 1/2"  thick steel,” he said. “They will have a natural rust patina finish to go with the theme of the park.”

Color us VERY intrigued!
