Report: "Total reconstruction" of Boardwalk to enter engineering phase
According to the Cape May County Herald, a joint plan for the "total reconstruction" of the Boardwalk by North Wildwood and Wildwood officials is moving forward, but is not imminent.
The piece quotes Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano, who explained that city leaders have begun looking for a grant to help cover finances for the project.
North Wildwood Mayor Patrick Rosenello noted that the reconstruction effort is not in the city's capital plans for 2018, and that a "block-by-block" approach over the course of several years to come is likely, to help ease the cost.
Regardless of when the project is to begin, Brazilian hardwood - legally harvested from farms and not rain forests - has already been chosen to supplant the current, aging boards.
The report can be read HERE.
