The iconic Coca-Cola sign at Boardwalk & Cedar Avenue was removed today and transported to the A.B.S. Sign Company's shop on Park Boulevard. There it will undergo a complete refurbishment this winter.

Today's sunny, mild conditions were ideal for the removal, according to A.B.S. owner Randy Hentges. He noted that the signs are all aluminum, with the COCA and COLA portions weighing about 500 lbs. each.

"It's ready for us to work our magic and make it great again," said Hentges of the sign, which loomed over the Boardwalk for decades, but has not been lit for years.

The restoration will include a paint job, along with new bulbs for neon outlining.

Stay tuned for more updates!
