Report: Wildwood still hoping to host beach concerts this summer

In an article in today's Wildwood Leader, Mayor Ernie Troiano explains that the city's efforts to present beach concerts planned for this summer have been hampered by promoters in Atlantic City.

According to Troiano, Wildwood is at the mercy of a "90-90" rule, which prohibits performers who sign with promoter Live Nation from playing within 90 miles of Atlantic City in the 90 days that follow concerts there.

Grammy Award winner Pink and country artist Brantley Gilbert have been signed to perform on the beach in Atlantic City on July 12 and 13, respectively.

Despite the holdups, Troiano is hopeful that Wildwood will be able to host three beach concerts this summer. He noted that announcements could come "any day now."

Troiano declined to cite potential performers, preferring to wait for official announcements.

Wildwood famously hosted a highly successful beach concert featuring country megastar Kenny Chesney back in 2012, a production which came together in under a month.

Last Fourth of July, Tim McGraw came to town, drawing an estimated 30,000 to the beach.

More big name acts appear to be coming soon.

Who and exactly when, remains to be seen...
