A gaggle of grandmas?!
Morey's Piers will unveil the refurbished Great Nor'Easter roller coaster next Thursday, May 25 by hosting the "first-ever Granny Opening."
Celebrating the ride's faster, smoother experience after a $5 million makeover this past offseason, the grannies will help usher in a new era for the Surfside Pier favorite, which debuted back in 1995.
The inverted steel coaster now boasts 2,170 feet of improved track, wrapped up in a sleek new paint job.
"With a 95-foot drop, the revamped ride has speeds to appease the biggest coaster buffs, yet gently glides for adrenaline seeking grannies."
The big opening will feature a "gaggle of grandmas" led by second-generation partners Jack and Will Morey. The inaugural ride will take place at 4:15 p.m., and the celebration will continue with music, free rides and refreshments until 6 p.m.
The event is open to the public.
