Pro Footvolley Tour coming to Wildwood, to be internationally broadcasted

Boardwalk Entertainment will host U.S. Footvolley
National Team in Wildwood July 21-23...

PRESS RELEASE

The ultra-exciting international sport of Footvolley will be coming to Wildwood beach this summer. From July 21-23, multiple matches will be scheduled featuring the national teams of six different countries for the Pro Footvolley Tour. Boardwalk Entertainment will be the host of the event, and plans to showcase Wildwood around the world for the three-day event.

“This sport is extremely unique, and has a worldwide following. We plan to showcase everything Wildwood has to offer,” said Boardwalk Entertainment owner, Amanda Thomas. “People from around the world will see this event live or recorded from the Wildwood beach.”

Footvolley is a sport that originated in Brazil, and is a mixture of football (aka soccer in the US) and volleyball. Players use soccer touches only on a beach volleyball court. Last year, the sport was featured as a demo sport in the 2016 Olympics. More than 10 matches will be completed over the three days, with national teams from Italy, Brazil, United States, and more.

Throughout 2017, the nation's only premiere touring series, Pro Footvolley Tour will conduct events throughout America. The Tour has exclusive rights to the US Footvolley National Team. In February, the 2017 Tour kicked off in Hollywood, Florida to a roaring success.

“Wildwood is the perfect place to host Pro Footvolley Tour.  We bring a wholesome, family-friendly, ultra-exciting sport that is a signature summer event.  With the US National Team plus our foreign national team invitees, this will be an extremely exciting event.  You don't want to miss seeing Melony Poviones, our star US athlete,” said Sergio Menezes, President of Pro Footvolley Tour & Captain US Footvolley National Team.

The event has two levels of admission; ticketed and free general admission. There is bleacher seating throughout the event, however the main set of bleachers, known as Premiere Seating, is guaranteed to be included on the broadcast. Tickets for this area are $15. Each ticket holder will receive one of three commemorative items (rally towel, sports ball, or tee shirt) and a color printed program. There are 400 total tickets for this area, and the general admission free entry totals 1000 tickets. All tickets must be secured online or on site at the box office.

Event match schedules and tickets are now available online at the event website www.wildwoodfootvolley.com, and more details will be added over the next few weeks and months leading to the event.

“This event has a smaller footprint on the ground, but a major impact around the world. We are happy to work alongside the City of Wildwood once again to create a fantastic event for the community,” said Thomas. “In addition to the best beach, Wildwood has the best events team. Public safety, public works, beach services, the administration and Mayor Ernie Troiano have all been the best help to make this event happen.”

Boardwalk Entertainment and the City of Wildwood will worked together to execute the event, with the same goals and hopes to showcase the town. There are multiple opportunities for the marketing and advertising of Wildwood. This event adds to the schedule of already successful sporting events the City has featured.

“The City of Wildwood is thrilled to be hosting this leg of this tour,” said Wildwood Mayor Ernie Troiano. “From a player’s as well as spectator’s perspective, our beach is the perfect venue to enjoy the games. With the games being broadcast internationally, the rest of the world will find out what visitors to our city already know – Wildwood is a world-class vacation and entertainment destination.”

While the Pro Footvolley Tour is the main large event for the 2017 season, Boardwalk Entertainment is hosting additional festivals and fun events throughout South Jersey. Other Wildwood events were announced last week, including the Sandy Paws Dog Festival and Dog Adoption Day, and the return of the Wildwood Food Truck Festivals, Movies on the Beach and the City Wide Yardsale. Announcements will be made through the month of March for additional Wildwood events.

“If there’s one thing the City of Wildwood is good at, it’s hosting events. There’s not one other town that can offer their experience, knowledge, and authentic devotion to the success of all events that are featured each year,” said Thomas.

Boardwalk Entertainment made headlines last year when the company created and promoted the Celebrate America Weekend featuring Tim McGraw. 20,000 fans attended the concert on the beach July 4th weekend. Now, the company plans to create more large scale and unique events in 2017 and 2018, while supporting the communities throughout South Jersey.
