On Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the City of North Wildwood's morning Council meeting, lifelong resident Edward Wheaton presented a petition to Council regarding his and other residents' request for a city name change back to its historical roots, Anglesea.
In response to Mr. Wheaton's petition, North Wildwood City Council approved a resolution on August 2, requesting the Cape May County Clerk to place a non-binding question on the November ballot, in order to gage sentiments of the people without making any hasty decisions or changes.
Over the past few weeks, the Administration Department of the City of North Wildwood has been analyzing all municipal assets that currently have "City of North Wildwood" printed somewhere on them.
The overall assessment and study results have concluded that the total estimated costs incurred would be somewhere between $20,000 and $30,000.

"I have heard both positive and negative feedback regarding a possible name-chance, but the most common question I have received so far has been, how much will it cost?," said Mayor Patrick Rosenello.
"The study conducted by our Administration Department helps to shine light on that question, and gives the residents more information on the overall costs incurred by the City, before they go to the polls this November."
