North Wildwood hosting "Name the Seawall" contest

As hard as it may be to believe, the North Wildwood Seawall has been in existence for 10 years!

In celebration of this milestone, the city is hosting a "Name the Seawall" throughout the summer (official deadline is August 31).

To enter, contestants must write a 50-100 word essay explaining what the seawall means to them, in addition to their chosen name for it.

The Grand Prize winner will receive (in addition to bragging rights) a week-long stay for a family of 4 at the Acropolis Resort Motel.

For complete information, including how and where to submit entries, visit the official page of North Wildwood Recreation & Tourism on Facebook.

A ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 17 at 10 a.m. to dedicate the new name.

Contest participants do not have to be present on that day to win.

  1. THE MACE TRACK

In an Era when we are quick to forget our past when it is bulldozed then forgotten, generations of us thrived in this neighborhood. The irony that the area that was once one of the more affordable blue collar communities on the island, has evolved into one of the most attractive areas should not be lost ....name it for all of us that scraped our knees on the rocks, sold the minnows we caught to Chadwicks to buy a soda, swam at the Lodge...we need to preserve the history ( even recent ) of our island ...
