The Wildwoods Host 11th Annual Fabulous ‘50s and Beyond Celebration Friday, October 17 & Saturday, October 18 with Bowzer’s Rock ‘N Roll Party

The Wildwoods, NJ – September 23, 2014 – The Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce presents the 11th Annual Fabulous ‘50s and Beyond Weekend Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18 in the Wildwoods – a two-day celebration paying tribute to the Wildwoods’ role in the birth of Rock ‘n Roll music.

The fun begins Friday night, October 17, inside the Wildwoods Convention Center with a Dance Party featuring the Nifty ‘50s Dance Band with David Christopher and DJ Ralph Warzy guaranteed to get everyone moving and grooving to classic oldies. The Dance Party takes place from 7 - 11 p.m. and admission is $15 per person.

Saturday, October 18 will feature an afternoon of outdoor fun and music during the FREE Fabulous ‘50s Street Fair at Fox Park, located across from the Wildwoods Convention Center on Ocean Avenue, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The Street Fair will include free live entertainment featuring a Johnny Cash tribute band, 45 RP, and The Mahoney Brothers throughout the day, plus a classic car show, a Doo-Wop ‘50s Bus Tour and a variety of vendors offering ‘50s memorabilia, merchandise, many delicious food options and much more.

Saturday evening at 7 p.m., the weekend’s featured event – the Fabulous ‘50s and Beyond Concert – will take place in the Oceanfront Arena at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Bowzer's Rock 'n Roll Party hosted by Bowzer, formerly of Sha Na Na, will present a star-studded musical line-up featuring Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon (Palisades Park, Tallahassee Lassie, Where The Action Is), Gene Chandler - The Duke of Earl(Duke of Earl, Groovy Situation), Fred Parris & The Five Satins (In the Still of the Night, To the Aisle), Bowzer & The Stingrays, along with SPECIAL GUEST Bill Haley's Original Comets (Shake Rattle &  Roll, See You Later Alligator, Rock Around the Clock)  celebrating 60 years of 'Rock Around The Clock!'

In addition, Joe D’Ambrosio and Dick Richards, the remaining original members of Bill Haley’s Comets, will attend several events throughout the Wildwoods during the weekend as local officials and the public celebrate the 60th anniversary of the world-famous song “Rock Around the Clock” which was performed for the first time live in Wildwood in 1954.
