Bonelli's Market, downtown institution since 1929, to close on Sunday, September 21st

UPDATE: A subsequent call to Bonelli's confirmed that the store's last day of operation will be Sunday, September 21st.

***************

We have learned that Bonelli's Market, a seemingly-timeless fixture in the heart of downtown Wildwood, will soon be closing its doors permanently.

Renowned as "The Home of The Old World Hoagie," the family-owned store nestled on the southwest corner of Pacific & Spencer Avenues has served generations of locals and vacationers since 1929.

Richard Bonelli, the longtime proprietor of the business, passed away last August at age 72. He succeeded his father, John, as owner and operator after his death in 1969.

While we are saddened to see this beloved "mom 'n pop" establishment close, we would like to thank the Bonelli family for their years of service to the island, and wish them all the very best in their future endeavors.

What the future holds for the property at 4000 Pacific Ave. remains to be seen, but it's a story we will be sure to follow in the months to come...
