'Do It For Doug' Buddy Walk Set

PRESS RELEASE

A “Do It For Doug” Buddy Walk (Doug Raucci) will be held April 2, at Forget-Me-Not Road Fitness Park, Forget-Me-Not Road & Beach with registration at 9 a.m. followed by the walk at 11 a.m.

Douglas Raucci, who passed away in 2006, was an effervescent young man who was born and raised on Forget-Me-Not Road and attended Cape May County Special Services School District. His spirit, loyalty and sense of humor endeared him to all he met.

His family and friends established the Forget-Me-Not Foundation in his name to pay homage to Doug and raise funds to foster awareness for the Down Syndrome Society. Funds raised from previous Buddy Walks have been donated to Cape May County Special Services School District to build a Pre-Vocational Center and scholarships have been awarded to local high schools.
.
Walkers are asked to pay a $20 donation ($10 for children under 14 years old) to walk and are encouraged to raise more funds. Potential walkers are asked to register early to guarantee a T-shirt.

A gathering will be held shortly after the walk at the Wildwood Crest Fire Hall for refreshments. Registration forms are available online at www.itsallaboutdoug.org.

The Buddy Walk, which is held in communities throughout the nation, was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society.
