Avalon Coffee Company to take over cafe at Jolly Roger Motel

One of the fastest-growing businesses in Cape May County is coming to the Wildwoods.

Avalon Coffee Company has announced that it is taking over the cafe at the Jolly Roger Motel in Wildwood Crest, where it will serve breakfast and lunch daily starting this spring.

The space, which overlooks the motel’s picturesque pool area, was operated by Antney’s Grub the past two summers; prior to that, it was known as Neverland Cafe.

“We are very excited about coming to the Wildwoods,” said Avalon Coffee Company owner Carl DiAntonio. “Customers have been asking us for years to bring a location to the island. The Jolly Roger Motel has been a big part of the Wildwoods for many years. Teaming up with them is the perfect fit.”

This is a busy time for Avalon Coffee Company, which is also in the midst of moving its “flagship” store in Rio Grande from Shoprite Plaza back to its original location at 3167 Route 9 South (previously Grande Cafe, near Walmart Superstore and Lowe’s, just outside of Wildwood).

“My staff and I are very excited to be going back to our original location on Route 9 in Rio Grande,” said DiAntonio. “Many customers have been asking for it over the past two years and we are very happy to be moving back!”

Avalon Coffee Company’s arrival at the Jolly Roger will give it five total locations, with existing franchises in Avalon (2892 Dune Drive), North Cape May (3860 Bayshore Road) and Cape May (#7 Gurney Street), in addition to Rio Grande.

A multiple-time Best of the Jersey Shore award winner, Avalon Coffee Company has been serving up its signature bagels and freshly-brewed coffee since 1994.

Each location offers a menu of assorted pastries, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, fruit smoothies and more.
