Monday Memories: Holly Beach (1940s)

This week's photographic gems were sent in by Jennifer Kincade Uselton, who shares with us the very roots of her family's love for the Wildwoods. Jennifer's grandfather, Thomas Gilson, was a lifeguard at Holly Beach from 1947-1952. It was there that he met his eventual bride, Eugenia Goldate Gilson...

Here are Thomas and Eugenia at Holly Beach in the late 1940s. Not only did Thomas play football at the University of Pennsylvania, he also served as District Attorney in Philly for 23 years. And, Eugenia was a model for Philco!

And here is another image of Thomas (on the left) guarding Holly Beach, circa 1948.

Thanks again to Jen for sharing these wonderfully nostalgic (and historic) family memories!

Each week, we will feature new "Monday Memories" vintage family photos. If you have a pic you would like to share, please drop us a line and send it along to wildwood365@gmail.com. Include as much info as you would like, including names of those in the photo(s), location, particular vacation memories, etc.
