Not Snow Fast...

We're off to a rainy start to the week in Cape May County, but it looks like there is no avoiding the inevitable.

Today, the National Weather Service in Mt. Holly issued a Winter Storm Watch for the area, which will go into effect Wednesday night and last through Friday morning.

Early estimates are that the Wildwoods could get around four inches of snow, with prime accumulation on Thursday.

Here is the updated NWS forecast:

Late Afternoon: Rain. High near 44. North wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tonight: Rain likely, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 36. North wind between 11 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Northwest wind between 13 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: Rain likely, mainly after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 35. North wind between 8 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday: Rain and sleet, becoming all rain after 9am. High near 40. Windy, with a north wind 14 to 17 mph increasing to between 26 and 29 mph. Winds could gust as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Rain before midnight, then snow. Low around 33. Windy. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday: Snow likely before 9am, then rain showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
