Loss of a Radio Legend: Nettleton passes away

Longtime Philadelphia area radio personality "Diamond" Jim Nettleton died yesterday after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was 69.

A Boston native, Nettleton is perhaps best remembered as one of the original "Boss Jocks" on WFIL-AM, starting in the mid-60s. A talented voiceover specialist, he recorded countless commercials and announcements for a wide variety of clients over the years.

Most recently, Nettleton hosted a morning program on the revamped "Wibbage" (WIBG, 94.3 FM), based out of Cape May County. On the show, he played not only classic "Oldies" tunes of the 60s and 70s, but retro commercials, air checks, and other clips from Boss Jocks and Wibbage "Good Guys" of the era.

Wildwood 365 would like to send our condolences to the Nettleton family and the many, many friends of this true broadcasting legend.
