The Wildwoods announce partial lineup for "Thunder Over the Waves" Airshow ~ September 5th & 6th

PRESS RELEASE

THE WILDWOODS - The Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement & Development Authority (GWTIDA) and David Schultz Airshows proudly announce the exciting lineup for the "Thunder Over the Waves" Airshow to be held on September 5 (practice day) and September 6 (main event) on the beaches of Wildwood, NJ.

The four-hour airshow is expected to draw over 400,000 spectators, as visitors travel to see 11 headlining acts including military flyovers by the NJ Air National Guard, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and Dover Air Force Base, plus performances by the Fighter Jets Inc. MIG-17PF Jet Team, ACEMAKER Solo Aerobatic Demos in the T-33 Shooting Star, Jerry Conley in the DH-115 Vampire Jet among many other jets and propeller aircraft executing incredible aerobatic performances.

The U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team will also be a part of the event along with the U.S. Coast Guard.

GWTIDA recognizes the airshow's ability to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors while keeping this iconic event in southern New Jersey. Historically, air shows in southern New Jersey have drawn spectators in the hundreds of thousands and had an economic impact in the tens of millions, providing a substantial tourism boost to its host city and the greater South Jersey shore region.

GWTIDA anticipates this addition to its events schedule will support local businesses and further establish the Wildwoods as a premier event destination and help to extend the traditional tourism season into the Fall.

"The Wildwoods are home to many family-friendly events year-round and we're proud to add a longtime South Jersey tradition to our calendar of events," explained Louis M. Belasco, GWTIDA Executive Director.

The Wildwoods strong infrastructure and venue capacity make it an ideal backdrop for the airshow, as it regularly hosts large scale events such as the Barefoot Country Music Festival.

VIP spectator bleachers on the beach, similar to those used for the Wildwoods' other large scale outdoor events, would provide choice seating. Additional exclusive VIP viewing areas at local hotels, piers and businesses would enhance the experience for attendees.

GWTIDA is also in discussions regarding potential airshow events for 2026 and beyond with plans to make the airshow an annual September event.

GWTIDA remains committed to extending the tourism season beyond the traditional Memorial Day to Labor Day timeframe. Funding for the Wildwoods "Thunder Over the Waves" Airshow would come from a combination of sources, including GWTIDA, SJTA and corporate sponsorships.
