PRESS RELEASE

THE WILDWOODS - The Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the 20th Annual Wildwoods '50s, '60s & '70s Weekend, scheduled for October 18 & 19. This event has become a staple in the Wildwoods, attracting visitors who love great oldies music.

The Wildwoods '50s, '60s & '70s Weekend is a musical celebration of the Wildwoods' role in the birth of Rock 'n' Roll. This year's event features a concert on Saturday, October 19, headlined by the legendary American actor, singer and former teen idol, Mr. Frankie Avalon.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Avalon rose to fame in the 1950's and 60's with a string of hits that included "Venus," "Why," and "De De Dinah." He also starred in a number of popular beach party films alongside Annette Funicello. Avalon's smooth vocals and charming persona made him a household name and a favorite among fans of the era.

Joining Franking Avalon on stage are The Lettermen, an American male pop vocal trio that has been performing since the 1960's. Known for their close vocal harmonies and smooth, romantic sound, The Lettermen have produced numerous hits including "The Way You Look Tonight," "When I Fall in Love," and "Goin' Out of My Head/Can't Take My Eyes Off You." With a career spanning decades, The Lettermen continue to captivate audiences with their timeless music and impeccable vocal talent.

The Shirelles starring Beverly Lee are also scheduled to appear on the Wildwoods Convention Center stage on Saturday, October 19. The Shirelles are an American girl group that achieved fame in the early 1960's with hits like "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," "Soldier Boy," and "Dedicated to the One I love." Beverly Lee, a founding member of the group, continues to perform as The Shirelles, keeping their timeless music alive for new generations to enjoy. Their harmonious melodies and poignant lyrics have made them icons of the girl group era.

The evening will be hosted by local favorite Tommy Cono, promising an unforgettable evening of music and nostalgia.

The weekend kicks off with an October 18 Friday evening Dance party featuring New Jersey's Favorite Oldies Bane, The Cameos, performing live all night long while guests take to the dance floor. On Saturday, the Fabulous '50s Street Fair at Fox Park in Wildwood will feature classic cars, food and craft vendors, a beer garden and live performances of our favorite Oldies music by Animal House Band, The Deck Band and Living Proof.
