The Sun Lounge on 6th announces indefinite closure

The Wildwoods’ only full-service tanning salon will be closed for the foreseeable future.

The Sun Lounge on 6th issued the following statement on Wednesday, via its official Facebook and Instagram pages:

“It is with heavy hearts that we write to inform you of a difficult decision. Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Sun Lounge is closed indefinitely. We want to express our deepest gratitude for your loyalty and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your understanding during this challenging time. Thank you for being a part of our little community. We hope to serve you again in the future.”

Owned by the mother/daughter team of Jackie McDade and Katrina Pastor, the Sun Lounge on 6th opened at 602 New Jersey Avenue in late 2022.

The salon’s stated mission was to create a “relaxed, curated vibe” with services that included all-natural, custom spray tans, UV tanning and infrared sauna, with several lie-down tanning beds in their own private rooms and stand-up full-power beds.

McDade also owns and continues to operate Perfect Cutz, a popular hair salon in Wildwood Crest (5800 New Jersey Ave).

Nearby tanning businesses in Cape May County include Suntastic Tan in Cape May Court House and Glow Girl 7Mile, a service based in Stone Harbor.
