THE WILDWOODS - Indulge in mouthwatering ribs, chicken, brisket and pork while enjoying some of the best blues music at the Jersey shore during the 24th Annual New Jersey State Barbeque Championship and Anglesea Blues Festival - Friday, July 8 through Sunday, July 10.
The event will take place at 2nd & Olde New Jersey Avenues in the North Wildwood Entertainment District.
The three-day festival will feature barbeque teams from around the country showing off their grill skills in a quest for the best BBQ. There will be teams competing for glory and 1st through 5th places in pork, ribs, chicken and brisket. The top overall scorer will be named the Grand Champion, and the second overall scorer will be designated the Reserve Grand Champion. The official judging is conducted by the Kansas City Barbeque Society.
The Grand Champion of the New Jersey State Barbecue Championship is eligible to compete in the invitation-only world championship, the American Royale, held annually in Kansas City, Missouri.
While you are enjoying delicious BBQ, you can also enjoy smoking hot blues music. The Anglesea Blues Festival will feature both national and regional blues musicians and is held in conjunction with the New Jersey State Barbecue Championship. Top blues acts are featured on the FREE outdoor main stage, as well as in neighboring clubs and pubs.
The festival kicks off Friday, July 8 with an opening ceremony at 4 pm and features The Ashcats from 4 - 7 pm on the main stage. From 7:30 - 10:30 pm, Gypsy Joe Alves takes the main stage.
On Saturday, July 9, festival hours are 10 am - 11 pm and will include an open air market featuring lots of food and merchandise. Vendors and guests can enjoy FREE live blues music featuring Emmitt Herron and Friends from 11 am - 1 pm; Paul Plumeri from 1:30 - 3:30 pm; Jeff Fetterman from 4 - 7 pm; and Peter Veteska and Blues Train from 7:30 - 10:30 pm.
The festival concludes on Sunday, July 10 with an open air market from 10 am - 6 pm and judging from the 2022 Barbecue Grand Championship. FREE live blues performances continue with Sister Blue from 11 am - 1 pm and the Roger Girke Band from 1:30 - 4:30 pm.
The 24th Annual New Jersey State Barbecue Championship and Anglesea Blues Festival is a celebration of great food, great music and family fun you won't want to miss, so pack up your appetite and groove to the blues in the Wildwoods - Friday, July 8 - Sunday, July 10.
