Rowan University alumni creates a graphic novel experience on the history of Wildwood's mid-century motels in hopes to continue preservation awareness

PRESS RELEASE

WILDWOOD
, New Jersey - the home of boardwalks, long beaches and, of course, the largest collection of mid-century "Doo Wop" motels...

This August, get the chronicle of their upbringing in 'The Wildwood Days of Doo Wop' - a 100-page, full color graphic novel from Los Angeles-based/Rowan University graduate '07, Michael Jasorka.

'The Wildwood Days of Doo Wop' graphic novel contains a chronicle of over 160 Doo Wop motels alongside the illustrations of countless doo wop vocal groups and their hits that visited the beach resort town from the 1950's throughout the 1970's - and they all lie accordingly within the angles, the sun decks and the plastic palm trees that the day of Doo Wop could only offer.

'The Wildwood Days of Doo Wop' also contains the local Wildwood builders, owners and operators of the past for further context into this unique, New Jersey commercial architectural movement.

A self-publisher of his own comics since before graduating from Rowan in 2007, Michael's journey through the medium of comics did start while working there as a campus resident assistant. Michael is also a vacationer of Wildwood, and has stayed in various of the now famous motels with his family since the 1980's.

Michael Jasorka and his Bombshell Comics (www.bombshell-comics.com) will be hosting several signing events this August, 2021 in Wildwood, New Jersey. He will be joined by Wildwood Crest Historian and Wildwood author Kirk Hastings, who was the editor of the graphic novel.

'The Wildwood Days of Doo Wop' is done in association with the George F. Boyer Museum - The Wildwood Historical Society, the Doo Wop Preservation League and the Wildwood Crest Historical Society.

The graphic novel can be purchased for $25 at these events; signatures are free from both the author and editor, as supplies last:
