Capt'n Jack's planning to expand with second floor wraparound deck at Boardwalk Mall

Last summer, Capt’n Jack’s Island Grill expanded with the opening of its much-anticipated second location at the Boardwalk Mall

The move was the centerpiece of the mall’s revitalization, highlighted by a spacious, open-air dining area with a large bar and seating that overlooked the Boardwalk, beach and amusement piers.

This spectacular, panoramic view may be taken to another level, with a plan in place to add a second floor deck that would run the width of the building’s facade (85 feet) and wrap around to its north side, along Garfield Avenue (another 36 feet); it would extend 6 feet out from the structure at all points.

An official proposal will be on the agenda at the Wildwood Planning & Zoning Board meeting on Monday, April 5.

Capt’n Jack’s, perhaps best known as the home of the ever-popular Fishbowl drink, debuted at 2701 Boardwalk (base of the old Hunt’s Pier) in 2006. That location was greatly expanded to include a new dining and bar area with second level Boardwalk and beach views in 2018.

The second Capt’n Jack’s was joined at the front of the Boardwalk Mall by The Chillin’ Pineapple and Playa Bowls in 2020. The arrival of the three entities, along with a new cool blue color scheme and a few simple-but-effective design flairs, dramatically upgraded the mall’s exterior presentation.

It appears that at least one more big addition is to come…
